Bishkek hosted a Training of Trainers on the Protection of Child Rights
From August 21 to 26, 2025, in Bishkek, the Public Foundation “League for the Protection of Child Rights,” with the support of Good Neighbours Kyrgyz Republic, held a two-day training for trainers within the framework of the project “Safe School – Bright Future.”
The training was aimed at strengthening of the professional capacity of school teachers, kindergarten educators, and social workers in the field of child rights protection. Participants learned modern approaches to identifying and preventing violence in the educational environment, as well as effective methods for responding to risks and creating a safe environment in schools and kindergartens.
Special attention was given to practical methods of working with children and parents. Participants were introduced to interactive teaching methods and received training in creating puppet shows and forum theatre performances together with teenagers.
The themes of these performances included child rights protection, personal safety, and prevention of violence. As part of the program, participants also visited:
-
The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, where they learned about the system of social support for children;
-
The Ombudsman Institute (Akyikatchy) of the Kyrgyz Republic, where they gained a deeper understanding of the mechanisms for protecting children’s rights and freedoms, as well as the work of the 115 child helpline;
-
The “Child Helpline” Center 111, where they studied the process of receiving and handling calls, as well as practices for providing assistance to children and their families.
These visits provided participants with a unique opportunity to observe the work of specialists in practice and to reinforce their skills in timely and appropriate responses to threats to children’s rights and safety.
Nazgul Turdubekova, Director of the Public Foundation “League for the Protection of Child Rights,” noted:
“This training has become an important step in creating a safer educational environment in Kyrgyzstan. Today, teachers and social workers need not only knowledge but also practical tools that help them protect children in a timely manner. We believe that the skills gained by participants — including the use of puppet theatre and forum theatre with teenagers — will contribute to building schools and kindergartens where every child feels safe and protected.”
The training became a significant stage in strengthening the child protection system within Kyrgyzstan’s educational environment and in preparing educators for effective violence prevention.
